As an important part of our sustainability journey, we are proud to announce that at the beginning of 2024 we started shipping our products using POLLAST!C mailers and inner packaging, made from recycled ocean-bound plastic! Here at Beyond Borders Collective we are deeply committed to making a positive impact on the planet and its people. As we all know plastic pollution is a real issue year after year, altering habitats, natural processes, ecosystems, and people’s livelihoods to mention a few.
Our partners @betterpackagingco work with coastal communities throughout Southeast Asia to rescue abandoned plastic pollution and recycle it into the packaging we are now using. We are proud to have a partnership that brings growth and empowerment through dignifying the hard work, care, and skills that our Ecuadorian artisans put into their creations. This is one of the many reasons why Beyond Borders Collective is privileged to be a part of their inspiration, influence, and impact. As artisans who began with limited resources and built their dream on their own, they manufacture high-quality textiles, crafted to be durable and easy to care for.

Factory
A local example and influence within their community in the highlands of Ecuador, empowerment is at the core of their success and production within a safe work environment. Every blanket they create begins with the inspiration behind nature and the richness of the Andean culture. The artisans put together color schemes and design their patterns to represent the uniqueness of their roots. Once that is perfected, they bring their inspiration to life! With some hands-on details to enhance their final product, they create a blanket that accents your life with its extraordinary design and value.

The yarn our artisans use to craft each blanket with its intricate designs and color schemes is 100% post-consumer recycled acrylic yarn from repurposed acrylic materials. Easy to care for and hypoallergenic, especially for those allergic to wool.

Alpaca Conservation
Our partnership provides support for the sustainable development of alpaca raising. Our partners in South America work to sustain both the alpaca population and the local shepherds of Peru through special shearing and genetic selection techniques. These special techniques help ensure the alpaca conservation, providing better income and education to the shepherds who raise and care for them, and with our partnership, we provide support to sustain the development of alpaca raising.

Our partnership's factories not only focus on high-quality materials, technology and manufacturing, but they are also cruelty-free specializing in taking care of their alpacas, shepherds, the environment, and contributing to Peru's local economy. In Peru, our partners also provide thousands of jobs in a guaranteed safe work environment with benefits such as insurance, scholarship programs, and more.

Eco-Friendly EFFORTS
80% of pollution to the marine environment comes from the land, one of the sources being plastic. Since fashion is another contributing source of pollution it is vital to find ways to reuse natural fibers to create a conscious, circular, and sustainable fashion. Our partner in Peru have a highly specialized upcycle and recycle system developed to create high-end, durable, and unique garments from leftovers such as scraps, dead inventory, and wastage through. Repurposing Materials
Taking advantage of the resilience and versatility found in alpaca fibers, since these offcuts without any re-process will most likely end up in the landfills. our partners in Peru produce 120,000 kilograms of Recycled and Upcycled yarn from alpaca, wool, and blends with nylon per year. Even though they do not recycle materials such as cotton and acrylic (synthetics in general), they do purchase 85% of offcuts from other companies, helping other companies in their recycling efforts to repurpose this material. This results in saving energy and water while reducing the consumption of raw materials. All the repurposed material is sorted by hand.
WHAT IS RECYCLE?
Process where objects are transformed into new materials, our partners use selvage from woven fabrics, deadstock yarn and swatches, and recycled polyester.
WHAT IS UPCYCLE?
Also known as “creative recycling” it involves repurposing waste to create something new and useful. Our partners use noils, extremely short fibers, and scrap materials to create durable garments that would otherwise be waste and pollution.

They began with 2 looms of their own and now have a team of skilled families that have joined them in their venture. Together they create their finest quality yarns that are dyed with the OEKO-TEX® certified dyes in their certified dye house. Every product created is created with a labor of love.
